1. Who was Max? Why and how did he enter Ausable’s hotel room?
Ans: Max was a secret agent who had come to Ausable’s place to find some secret documents.
Max had come to know that Ausable had got some report concerning some new missiles. He entered Ausable’s hotel room in order to get that report. Several men and women had risked their lives for collecting that important report, Max threatened Ausable with a pistol demanding the report.
Max entered the room with the help of a passkey through the main door. He tried to get the report from Ausable by force.
2. How is Ausable different from other secret agents?
Ans: Ausable was different from other secret agents in many ways. Firstly, he was very fat. Secondly he had a small room on the top floor of a French hotel which was not at all a romantic adventure. And then his American accent, though he could speak French and German, but he always mixed his American accent with it. He did not even carry any firearms with him.
